I get the impression this interviewer doesn't listen very well. Far too adversarial - verging on being an inquisitor at times. The BBC seems to breed a sense of superiority in such folks who are otherwise rather dull and totally boring. Robin Gibb, on the other hand, a much more interesting soul. A real gent, an immense talent and a wholly self made man with so much to tell. Pity he didn't get the chance to speak more about himself back then. He's greatly missed.
The interviewer was a j*rk. He kept on ignoring the whole point of the monument and tried to put Robin on the spot, but Sir Robin Gibb knew how to handle it perfectly! And the Memorial happened! Ha! Now the interviewer can acknowledge how stupid he is every time he sees it. Lol

He's a straight shooter with strong opinions and very proud of his achievements. He's so right about today's karaoke singers. The 70s and 80s musicians in general were so creative, writing their own music, creating their own style. I remember listening to the radio back then and there was always something new and so exciting every week.
This interviewer was horrible - kind of a jerk! That last question: you feel like your life was too easy ? Why would a pop star want to honor the English ww2 air force pilots? Every subject that the interviewer brought up, he was trying to find a way to put Robin down or make him a victim of his childhood ( part1). Robin really handled himself well.❤❤❤

Even so, I don't get the correlation between Robin having an awkward childhood, which I'm completely unaware of, and sporting a ridiculous and laughingly conspicuous hair piece. Had he glued it to his pate at more of a jaunty angle, made it even more miss-matched, or admitted wearing it as a joke, I might have forgiven him.

(I have a personal theory that he had EDS, undiagnosed.) As he entered his 30s he learned to look beautiful, though not conventionally so. He embraced fashion irony. I think that era of short spiky hair on men was unfortunate, but I don't know if I would have recognized it as a hairpiece if he hadn't also appeared with natural baldness previously. Some of the wigs he wore later on were extremely natural looking. And it's pretty clear he felt more comfortable that way. Why not be glad for him?
Robin was my favourite Bee Gee. He was the intellectual of the three, and had such a beautiful, soulful singing voice. The fact that this interview was part of the Hard Talk series, ruined it for me. More could've been achieved from a pleasant line of questioning...... I won't be watching another interview from this toxic series.
